What are the effects of taking too much synthroid?
I take synthroid for hypothyroid and I know exactly what happens when I do not take it, but not when I take too much. What effects will it have on weight? It’s not a diet question, I am not looking to lose any weight, I just need to know what happens over a period of time.
Side effects from Synthroid, other than overdose symptoms, are rare. People who are treated with Synthroid may initially lose some hair, but this effect is usually temporary. Will a blood pressure spike from too much synthroid go down quickly>?
I have ALWAYS had very low blood pressure. Recently, my Dr. increased my synthroid medicine from 50 to 88 mcg. One week ago my hands and feet started feeling numb off and on. My blood pressure reading today was 270! It is always 110. I had thyroid blood work done today to check it. Once they lower my medicine again, should my blood pressure drop quickly?
I assume you mean your pulse is 270, right? Blood pressure reading has two number (SBP/DBP) such as 140/80. Yes, once the synthroid’s dosage is lowered, your pulse should slowly decrease.
What happens when you take too much synthroid, the thiroid medication?
I have been perscribed to pill a day, let’s just say i’ve had 30 in an hour . What should I expect?
okay well first your body will get really hot and sweaty.
i would expect your heart rate to go way up (pounding heart)
you also would feel very irritable and everything would annoy you
then you should start feeling sick to your stomach and start to feel as if your body is going into overdrive
then all the symptoms i decribed above will keep on increases til it is unbearable..
then if you get extremely lucky you may not die
but usually someone would die of hyperthermia, a heart attack, a hypertension crisis, or simple get a coma….and all of which usually leads to death
the only chance you would have is if your body is super resitant to the medicene or if you got your stomach pumped ASAP
please dont take 30 pills, there are many other drugs to take that feel good..not a touture like taking 30 synthroids..
just be safe and aviod all drugs if possible:]
Can too much synthroid cause shortness of breath and palpitations? Can I swim even so?
I had my TSH levels checked today and they are at .25, a little low but not bad. My PCP asked me if I felt fine and I do, but I forgot to mention that I have off and on slight heart palpitations and slight shortness of breath. Could this be from too much synthroid? Also is it safe to swim like this? Thanks.
Adverse reactions associated with Synthroid therapy are primarily those of hyperthyroidism due to therapeutic overdosage. Palpitations and shortness of breath are listed as cardiovascular side effects of Synthroid in my MIMS book. I’m not sure what that means.. your dosage might need to be adjusted. Definitely call your doctor to tell him about the side effects.. He can help you better because he knows your medical history.. And please don’t swim or exercise if you’re not feeling well !!
Does anyone know what happens if you take too much synthroid, I am taking the supposedly right does now, but?
when I have taken larger doses I am not tired and I loose weight. Will the larger dose, up approx 2 steps really hurt you?
yes, it could cause a heart attack. it also makes the heart beat faster and heart and lead to an enlarged heart. don’t do it, it won’t be worth the weight loss down the road…damage to your heart.
